After establishing a reputation as a top Republican strategist, Gregory Gleaves launched Direct Edge Campaigns. He recognized great need for top quality mail at affordable prices with consistent service and reliable delivery. He has created Direct Edge to address these needs, providing mail and other services for local, state and federal races.

During two stints at the Tennessee Republican Party, Gleaves spearheaded efforts that lead to a radical change in Tennessee politics. During his time as Executive Director in 2010, the Governor’s office was flipped, the Congressional delegation changed from 5-4 Democrats to 7 -2 Republicans, and there was a 14-seat pick-up in the state house. As Director of Field Operations for the Tennessee Republican Party in 2004, he executed the plan that led to the first Republican majority in the state senate since reconstruction following the Civil War.

Gleaves was appointed Chief of Staff for the Tennessee House of Representatives by Speaker Beth Harwell in January, 2011. While serving the first majority elected Republican speaker in Tennessee and first female speaker in the southeast was a privilege, he desired to get back in the business of what he does best and enjoys most; beating Democrats. Soon after leaving the speaker’s office he founded Direct Edge Campaigns.

Gleaves holds a Master’s degree from The George Washington University’s Graduate School of Political Management and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee’s (Knoxville) College of Business. He lives in Franklin, Tennessee, with his wife, Lei Ann Ulep Gleaves, and their two children, Luke and Ava.

James Klein is the Senior Vice President at Direct Edge Campaigns. Prior to joining Direct Edge, he consulted for state and national party committees, independent expenditures, ballot initiatives, and campaigns in nearly 30 states.

A veteran operative, James was the Director of Advocacy and Data Strategy for the American Federation for Children and has worked for a public affairs firm devising strategies, leading programs, and executing mail and digital projects for some of the nation’s most high-profile campaigns, including those for presidential candidates and countless sitting governors, U.S. Senators, and members of Congress. Additionally, he has served as a senior strategist that has led to the Republican takeovers of legislative Chambers across the country.

James received degrees in Economics and Political Science from Denison University and earned a Masters in Strategic Public Relations from George Washington University.

He lives in Jacksonville, Florida with his wife, Liz, and their daughter.
